Developing Resiliency In
Veterans & First Responders
Horses Healing Hearts provides equine assisted activities for Veterans and First Responders in order to improve their mental and emotional resiliency. Our Forward Movement workshops use the power of horses to create a safe space where they can share their stories and experiences without judgment. This helps them feel understood by others who understand what it’s like to be in service of our country or community. It also provides an opportunity for them to learn new skills that will allow them to continue on this journey towards healing from within themselves instead of relying solely on medication or therapy sessions alone.
All of this is achieved by working alongside a teacher that you might not have considered before, a horse.
Horses are prey animals, and as prey animals they have astute abilities to be highly aware of their surroundings. This ability allows for introspective learning that helps participants not only become aware of their emotions, but also how to work through them.

What People Are Saying
“I learned that it's all about communication. I won’t be able to release past trauma without being able to communicate my pain with my team, family and friends. It's something I will bring in to my next relationship. I have never been much at communicating but we can’t go forward in a relationship if we don’t communicate and stay on the same page. The horses taught me that."
