Marianne Cyr

Executive Director & Interim Secretary

Marianne Cyr is the Co-Founder, Executive Director, and Interim Secretary of Horses Healing Hearts, Inc., bringing more than 45 years of hands-on experience with horses and a lifelong commitment to healing, education, and community service. Her work is grounded in the belief that meaningful connection, especially through horses, can create powerful opportunities for growth, learning, and emotional well-being.

Early in her career, while attending college, Marianne worked at Pettengill House, a social service agency in Salisbury. That experience opened her eyes to the impact of compassionate, relationship-based support and sparked a lasting passion for helping others, particularly individuals and families navigating difficult life circumstances. This formative experience continues to shape the heart and direction of her work today.

Marianne is an alumna of Northern Essex Community College, where she earned a dual degree in Criminal Justice and Computer Science. She is a Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructor and a Certified Facilitator of Equine Connection, Horse Powered Reading®️, and PAL Around Pony School®️. Through these programs, she blends horsemanship, literacy, life skills, and emotional wellness into inclusive, relationship-based experiences serving children, families, veterans, and older adults.

In addition to her nonprofit leadership, Marianne is the owner of Creative Touch Designs, a woman-owned embroidery, screen printing, and promotional products business she founded 25 years ago. Building and sustaining a successful small business for over two decades has strengthened her leadership, operational, and financial expertise, skills she brings directly into guiding a growing nonprofit organization.

Horses Healing Hearts, Inc. operates its programs at Lazy J Ranch, LLC, a separately owned and operated equine facility founded by Marianne Cyr in 2006, which serves as the organization’s home base under a formal, board-approved facility-use agreement.

Marianne is deeply involved in her local community and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Salisbury Agricultural Commission and as a Board of Directors member of SCTV in Salisbury. Her community leadership reflects a strong commitment to agriculture, small business, and local connection.

Outside of her professional roles, Marianne enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their three dogs, traveling to their Tennessee home, caring for all the animals on the farm, and spending time with family whenever possible. She holds a deep personal passion for helping others, especially veterans and older adults living with dementia and is dedicated to ensuring Horses Healing Hearts remains a place where compassion, dignity, and purpose are always at the center and open to the community.
